The race and countdown to the Commonwealth Games in Britain has begun.
Of the 12 sports travelling to Glasgow in July, the bowls team has finalized a team of ten to participate in both the men’s and women’s events.
With just 75 days to the opening of the Commonwealth Games, Bowling is just one of many sporting codes in the country, racing to finalise a team to travel.
The national women’s pair’s tournament, held over the weekend in the Nation’s capital brought forward a number of potential athletes to travel to Glasgow.
National Bowl’s Coach, William Stevens, confirmed five teams in both men’s and women’s division, which will compete in two separate challenges; the Fiji Bowling Carnival and the annual Far North Queensland tour.
Steven’s is confident the experience and lessons abstracted from the games will be of far more benefit to the players. Stevens also justified the reasons for selection saying, Bowling is a sport based on a player’s state of mind, and how well he or she can strategize, hence, maturity and experience were both contributing components of the team’s final selection.
