Ase and Watson Boas have encouraged players in the current SP Hunters train-on
The Boas brothers left the SP Hunters team to join the Featherstone Rovers, a team in the United Kingdom. They both played essential roles in the SP PNG Hunters team over the past 3 years.
SP PNG Hunters Coach, Michael Marum, is building a fairly new team for the 2019 season with the spine of the team moving abroad to further their rugby league careers.
With two months left before the start of the Queensland Intrust Super Cup season, former SP Hunters captain, Ase Boas encouraged players to be more disciplined.
“My encouragement to the boys is just to be more disciplined and doing little things right. Just the attitude will bring the team spirit together,” SP Hunters captain said.
Humility, respect and the desire to do better is what many SP Hunters players possess. These virtues are what Ase says, will help the team progress in the competition.
Playing for the SP PNG Hunters in the Q-Cup is a whole new experience for players who have been selected from the national Intercity cup competition.
Former half-back Watson Boas has encouraged new players in the team to work hard.
“Playing for the Hunters is another level, it’s not playing for your province like in the Digicel Cup, it’s representing the country. Take it seriously. Do your best,” the former Hunters half-back said.
The SP PNG Hunters 2019 squad will be announced before their trial match against the Brisbane Broncos on the 23rd of February at the Oil Search National Football Stadium.
