The Central police station in the Lae is one of the oldest police stations, and the RPNGC is currently looking at rebuilding a new one.
Police Commissioner, Gari Baki, admits it is unfortunate that the department has not given much thought in constructing a new building.
Baki says the new police station will be a major project for the department in the future.
He says nothing can be done this year, because the modernisation funding allocated for 2017 is not sufficient.
