Athletes Commission encourage leadership

by Tere Alex – EM TV, Lae

Over 200 athletes currently attending the 6th BSP PNG Games have passed through the PNG Athletes Commission tent over the last seven days.

The theme surrounding the Athletes Commission’s campaign is based on four components; Play true (anti-doping), Play Safe (HIV and AIDS), Go Green (Love your Coast) and be a leader.

The Commission, with the help of Team PNG athletes, have set up tents around different venues and are disseminating information that will still be relevant in next year’s Pacific Games. The Commission identified the PNG Games as a direct platform to engage both unsung talents and elite athletes to be part of the voices of the athletes program.

The program wouldn’t be better without the assistance of the PNG Olympic Committee, who want the athletes to be role models and good sports ambassadors. The Commission is encouraging athletes to come forward and be a part of the athletes program.
