Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Jeffrey Komal, presented the incident report for the damages done to the House late last year(2018).
The report was compiled and submitted by the Damage Assessment Committee following the rampage by members of the Security Forces who demanded answers for their outstanding allowances for APEC Summit operations.
According to the report, the cost of damage stands at 8 million kina.
Komal said the action by the forces showed disrespect for the Speaker’s Office, the Parliament, and democracy of the country.
The report also recommended that a new security system be adopted, and costs incurred to be charged to the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary and the Correctional Service.
About 120 security force personnel were involved in the incident.
