Annual Charity Cup Kicks Off Easter

The Annual Charity Cup seven a side soccer tournament kicked off Easter at Bisini Park in Port Moresby.

Workers in Corporate and public entities took time away from their office desks to sweat it out on the field.

Unlike the larger version of the ‘beautiful game’, the matches were played on half-pitches with smaller goals and a smaller area to score.

The intensity and competition between people, however, was still the same with great rivalry on display.

For most of these weekend warriors, it’s a refreshing change from the strain and stress of the office.

The excitement was evident, with some great goals and saves on show.

Ninety-two teams from over 40 organizations registered in this year’s competition.

The four-day tournament has slowly become a permanent fixture, with all proceeds from the registration and fundraising going to a number of beneficiaries including the Sir Buri Kidu Heart Foundation, Women’s Doctor’s Association and the Kash Foundation.
