ANGAU Board Members Sworn In

Angau’s Dr. Jim Abrahams made his first public appearance as the hospital Acting CEO, during the swearing in of five new board members today.

It comes several days after planks were nailed to the CEO’s office door, to lock him out.

Whilst speaking today at the ceremony, Dr. Abrahams says the management will look to the new board’s leadership, to guide them through the transition period.

“We will look to their guidance,” he says.

The five new Angau board members took oath today at the Memorial Hospital.

The new board members' are, Local Business Representative Nelly McClay, Women’s Representative Carol Yawing, Deputy Chairperson Sarah Haoda- Todd, Health Department Representative Micha Yawing and Church Representative Pastor Bonny Sinato.

The swearing in was also for the newly appointed Acting Angau CEO, Dr. Jim Abraham’s, first public appearance as the hospital’s head.

NEC stands by its decision to appoint Dr. Abraham’s as Acting CEO until the post is permanently filled.

And representing Health Minister, Michael Malabag, Health Secretary Pascoe Kasse, attended the swearing of the five members on.

The swearing in of the new board members comes after a three days tension caused by the sidelining of Dr. Polapoi Chalau as CEO.

A group forcefully nailed the CEO’s office door shut on Monday. Yesterday, Nation Doctors Association, Dr. Alphonse Rongap, condoned the action by the local group.
