Ambassador McKee takes Office

National security, resilience to climate change, promoting safe communities, good governance and transparency will be the focus for the new US Ambassador to Papua New Guinea Erin Elizabeth McKee.

Ambassador McKee says the U.S Government will continue to uphold PNG has a mutual friend and continue support its development goals.

Presenting the letter of Credentials, Ambassador McKee spoke of three priority areas, national security cooperation, high commercial investment for American companies in PNG and promote good governance and transparency.

Ambassador McKee is a fourth-generation native Californian, she was born on the Pacific Coast and raised on the shores. She says her new role is to deepen the mutual understanding and realize PNG’s development goals.

Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae welcomed Ambassador McKee, stating the PNG Government recognizes and upholds the support of the United States. The head of the State wants more bilateral cooperation in areas of trade, tourism, and investment.

McKee officially takes office today (Wednesday, 27 November) from outgoing Ambassador Catherine Ebert Grey.
