Aihi blasts The National for what he describes as “bias reporting”

by Bridgette Komatep – EM TV, Port Moresby

Former Member for Kairuku Hiri, Paru Aihi has blasted The National newspaper for what he claims is biased reporting.

Mr Aihi was responding to The National’s media reports of him evading his warrant of arrest and failing to appear in court earlier this week.

As the matter was before the Supreme Court, he alleges that MP Peter Isoaimo has been assisting policemen to affect a warrant of arrest on him.

In an interview with EM TV, Mr Aihi was calm and relaxed as he clarified that he wasn’t evading police from arresting him, as stated in The National newspaper recently. Mr Aihi labelled the report as defamatory and biased as he was never given the chance to tell his side of the story. He will be seeking legal advice.

As the matter is before the Supreme Court, he says the whole report was a perversion of the course of justice and further stated that the current MP should stop funding police to affect the warrant of arrest. Meanwhile, attempts to get comments from Kairuku Hiri MP Peter Isoaimo were unsuccessful as he is currently overseas in Brisbane, Australia.
