Secretary for the Personnel Management Department, John Kali says that nurses’ awards were paid in pay periods of 25 and 26 for this year.
In an exclusive interview with EMTV News, Mr. Kali says that award provisions from previous industrial agreements have all been resolved.
“Much to the effect of staff in the Personnel Management Department and also those in the National Health Department,
“We have to continue work together to make sure that nurses outstanding terms and conditions are fully implemented,” Secretary Kali added.
These awards were paid to ensure that nurses continue their good work.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the Papua New Guinea Nurses Association said, 4,000 registered members should have received their awards in pay period 25, in compliance to directions from the the Personnel Management Department.
While the nurses awards have already been implemented in pay period 25, those serving in rural areas might receive it late, because of remoteness factors.
