A landowner from an LNG impacted village outside Port Moresby says no awareness was done before traditional fishing grounds were zoned.
Chairman of Papa Resource Development Limited Heni Goro says reefs have been damaged and the government has put a halt to the fishing grounds, restricting villages from using the sea area.
Meantime the recently published LNG quarterly Environment & Social report, says the Project closely monitors livelihood restoration activities.
The report says the monitoring is carried out with the aim of giving physically and economically displaced people the opportunity to restore their livelihoods and standards of living.
Success stories are listed in the report where the LNG Socioeconomic team continues to work with clan agents and finalize compensation agreements for initial damage, surface damage and annual deprivation payments.
Ongoing livelihood restoration, monitoring and evaluation activities are currently underway in 14 areas.
