Murdered Police Officer: Identity Revealed

The identity of the Police officer who was murdered on the early hours of Saturday morning in Vanimo, West Sepik Province, was revealed today.

He was identified as Eric Botude, by Vanimo Police’s Criminal Investigation Division, Officer in Charge and Lead Investigator into the case Sargent Wilson Polly.

 

Polly said, the deceased was from Western and Northern Provinces, and served over three years in Vanimo as a police officer. He was killed on his way home after playing pokies with friends at the Vanimo Surf Lodge.

 

His body was found at Vanimo Airport close to the run way. According to pictures taken at the crime scene, it looked like he sustains serious wounds to his left shoulder and neck areas.

 

The motive of his death is unknown at this stage and no murder weapon has been recovered as yet. Few suspects have been arrested in relations to his death and investigations are still continuing.

Botude is survived by his wife and new born child.
