The Pioneer Province of the Free Education in Papua New Guinea is fast moving toward the next phase to educate children.
According to Engan Governor, Peter Ipatas, thousands of Engan students are enrolled in tertiary institutions around the country.
Student numbers continue to grow and the Provincial Government is now set to create more Universities in the Province.
Education in Enga Province has come a long way since the revolutionary idea in 1997 to have all its students going to school for free.
The Provincial Government was the first in Papua New Guine, to subsidize schools fees, to educate more Engans for the future.
This year marks almost 10 years since the policy was rolled out, and Enga has reaped the rewards.
The Enga Provincial government opened new institution campuses in Wabag; it started with the Institute of Business Studies, and last year the Engan Teachers College and Port Moresby Institute of Matriculation Studies.
For now, Enga is leading in the vision to get more Papua New Guineans educated.
The Government has budgeted K605 million and another K43 million in trust to get the rest of the country, to the same level as Enga Province.
