Education Department To Consider E-Learning Solution

A three day workshop on E-learning and online examination was conducted recently for the Education Department by Think Tank Quiz in Port Moresby.

The workshop highlighted that, the introduction of computer and internet technology has changed the face of learning throughout the world.

Workshop facilitator and TTQ Director John Kama said, most school systems around the world have gone digital in terms of e-learning and online examinations and PNG should be no exception.

Steven Tandale, Director for Curriculum Division, said the training has challenged curriculum officers to further explore this concept of learning.

He says this will also save the department a lot of money in the long run.

Mr. Tandale further said, “Online examination is a great concept to introduce, it will save the department a lot of money in the long run.  We would be interested to work with TTQ to further dialogue, pilot and research of this concept and hopefully in the next 5 years, we should be ready to try something out”.

The workshop was attended by 40 officers from the Curriculum Development and Assessment Division and the Measurement Services Bureau, who are responsible for school examinations in the country.
