Goroka Development Plan Underway

The Goroka District Administration is working in line with the Vision 2050 to have equal distribution of public goods and service delivery to its rural communities.

The funding, provided by the National Government, has effectively engaged the administration to provide a clear development pathway to fulfil the government’s commitment to the country.

Goroka District Administrator, Andreas Lulue, outlined this during the hosting of the Goroka Sports Award night over the weekend.

The Eastern Highlands province is made up of eight districts who speak more than nine different dialects.

The provincial capital, Goroka, is where all the commercial activities take place, and one of the districts that are fortunate to be located with the provincial administration is the Goroka Local Level Government.

The Goroka District Administration under Andreas Lulue, acknowledged the O’Neill–Dion Government, increasing public expenditure at the district level.

Speaking at the recent Sports Award Dinner, Mr. Lulue stressed the importance on the increase in budgetary allocation under DSIP, PSIP, and LLGSIP, and has made it possible to the Administration to participate in public goods and service delivery to the people in the remote communities in Goroka district.

Goroka is a potential industrial hub with the abundance of fresh produce that would contribute immensely to the country’s economy.

The Administration understands the vision 2050, and it’s working towards the medium term development plan, and the millennium development goals, to collectively provide a clear development pathway to transform the community and people into a smart, healthy and happy society by 2050.

Also noting the provincial flag bearers, the Goroka Bingtangor Lahanis success story in the recent years has boosted the Goroka people to bid for a team in the National Soccer League Competition in 2016.

Sports play an integral part in the development and have now come into spotlight.
