PM: Courts Final Decision Next Week Tuesday

The Court will hand down a final decision next week Tuesday on the application for stay on the warrant of arrest served to Prime Minister, Peter Oโ€™Neill by police.

The announcement comes after lengthy submissions from new police counsel, Mark Varitimos, and lawyers representing plaintiffs, James Marape and Peter Oโ€™Neill.

Meanwhile, all interim orders remain until the ruling on July 1st.

The Waigani National Court House was under heavy security just after lunch as a small minority made their way to hear Prime Minister, Peter Oโ€™Neillโ€™s case.

In its 2nd week of twist and turns at the court house, it was a legal debate inside the court room has new police lawyer, Mark Varitimos, made hours of submission before the court.

Mr Varitimos made the submissions on behalf of Sam Bonner who represented the police in the previous hearing.

ย 

Lawyer Varitimos also seek the courtโ€™s sanction for a temporary restrain from the warrant arrest issued.

ย 

Justice Kariko took all considerations from other counselsโ€™ as well with the emphasis to conclude these proceedings with the respect and protection of the constitution.

A final decision will be handed down on Tuesday 1st of July. Meanwhile, all standing orders remain. The case will now go into its 3rd week at the courts.
