PNG ICT Cluster Final Meeting Held

The PNG ICT CLUSTER is an initiative funded by BizClim, the European Union Instrument for support to private sector with additional support from the PNG Business Council and PNG Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The project began in March this year, and has gained incredible momentum in a very short space of time, before concluding today with the topic of 'Developing PNG’s ICT Cluster' meet in Port Moresby.

 

The final meeting for the PNG ICT Cluster was held at the Holiday Inn today, with an open invitation to the public.

 

Present at the event was Honorable Minister for Informations & Communication Technology, Jimmy Minintoro, Peter Loko, Head of Cluster Taskforce, BizClim Team Leader, Paula Norris, as well as European Union representatives.

 

The Information Communications technology (ICT) Cluster industry is said to be a sector crucial to PNG in terms of providing opportunities for developing future pathway for the cluster’s progress, and is believed to play an important part in the economy of our country.

 

This was supported by Minister Jimmy Minintoro and Peter Loko who stated that the industry in the country can play a diverse role in our economy.

 

Priscilla Kevin, one of the presenters, spoke on the PNG ICT cluster Project Ideas and Creativity, and introduced the new PNG ICT Website.

 

A brief presentation was also given on 'A Day in Silicon Valley' by Freddie Akapali, a Senior LAMP Software Engineer (Consultant).
