Improve Services Vital

Deputy Prime Minister Grand Chief, Leo Dion, has urged all provincial and local level governments, to drive the National Government’ service delivery improvement policy agenda.

Officiating at the 22nd National Health Conference in the Nation’s Capital, the Deputy Prime Minister said the National Government’s goal is to deliver services effectively and efficiently to its citizens, with other government levels, as vehicles to drive development initiatives.

This is to ensure people benefit from goods and service delivery.

He pointed out, lack of performance by public servants, resulted in the poor delivery of government basic services.

Mr Dion pointed out a big challenge for the National Government, is to extend these services to people in in-land rural areas, who miss out big time.

The National Government is working on a policy to institutionalize basic minimum standard for districts and local level governments to monitor performance.

Health is everyone’s business and the department will continue to support government priorities, says Minister responsible Michael Malabag.

He said focus is to improve primary health care. But first, facilities to be improved, more training institutions, and the sufficient medicine supply.

Health Secretary, Pascoe Kase said all activities are captured under Health Plan 2011 to 2020, that aims to transform the system toward Vision 2050

The 22nd National Health Conference held under theme: ‘Charting our Progress, Accelerate Implementation of The National Health Plan’, was attended by the government and its agencies, stakeholders, donors and provincial participants.
