Simbu Province has continued to maintain its performance on the latest 2012 Provincial Expenditure Review.
The review titled ‘Government, Money, Arteries and Services’ by the National Economic and Fiscal Commission revealed Simbu has maintained a consistent performance with an average of 76 points.
Other provinces in the top that have sustained their spending performance for three consecutive years include Manus with 74 points, Milne Bay 72 points while Madang and Western Highlands share 70 points each.
The review shows Simbu over the last two years consistently and adequately spent on service delivery activities in line with the eleven minimum priority activities.
They include health, education, transport infrastructure maintenance, primary production and village courts.
National Economic and Fiscal Commission Chief Executive Office Hohora Suve said assessment criteria looks at how well provinces use their function grants and internal revenue, to fund the basic goods and service delivery to the rural people throughout Papua New Guinea.
Mr Suve says there’s demand for update on government budget spending critical for planning and monitoring purposes.
