Easter Period Calls for Road Checks

People in Central province are urged to celebrate Easter peacefully in style with no alcohol.

Alcohol is banned this Easter period, and members of the Central Provincial Administration and Police are carrying out checks along the main highways, in making sure people are compliant.

Several major road blocks were set up along the Magi, Hiritano and Sorgeri Highways.

This is to make sure people travelling on PMVs and private vehicles are complying with the law, and not smuggling beer or drink driving during this Easter period.

Central Province Acting Deputy Provincial Administrator, Marina Faiteli, said they want people to celebrate Easter in its true meaning and not taking alcohol to complement it.

Few women in the Central Provincial Administration also take time out to assist the Police in conducting the search.

They confiscated several hard-stuffs, SP and Coffee Punch Beer.

Three men were first to be arrested and fined 300 Kina each.
