Wanted Man Surrenders To Police

A wanted person who has been featuring on EMTV’s Crime Stoppers Program has surrendered to police.

 

The person voluntarily gave himself to police in Milne Bay and was escorted to Port Moresby this morning.

Vernon Mark Noan was accused of embezzlement as an employee of Air Niugini.

 

After 6 months of repeated airing of Crime Stoppers program by the Police Media unit, the wanted person’s parents felt obliged and advised authorities that their son is surrendering.

 

Vernon comes from a mix parentage of Manus and Central Province but fled to Milne Bay after committing the crime. His father got tired of seeing his son’s face on the Crime Stoppers and asked Vernon to surrender to police.

 

After making several calls Vernon’s parents arranged with Police in Port Moresby and Milne Bay to escort Vernon back to Port Moresby.

 

Host of Crime Stoppers Sargent David Terry praised the move by the accused has this is a big achievement for the program. Inspector Terry emphasized that Mr Noan is not guilty until proven.

 

Police then handed over Mr Noan to the Air Niugini Aviation Security staff.

 

Executive Manager for Air Niugini Aviation Security Joseph Foe was present to receive Mr Noan. Mr Foe thanked the move by Mr Noan as it ends the long search made by police and Air Niugini Security.

He said the accused will be dealt with first by the company then be handed over to the police.

 

Noan has been on the run since 2011.
