Forum On Issues Affecting Country

A public forum was held yesterday, to raise awareness on issues affecting the country. Among the many issues raised were the UBS loan, the Unitech Saga, and the 30 months grace period.

The forum was led by activist, Noel Anjo, to address rampant corruption in the country.

The Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, Opposition Leader Belden Namah, and former treasurer Don Polye, were invited to attend, to address the gathering.

However they did not attend.

Concerned citizens who attended, expressed concerns on K3 billion UBS loan, and the Unitech saga among others.

Many of them opposed the idea of the loan, saying it is not in the best interest of the people. They want the government to come clean on the deal.

Earlier, the Prime Minister defended the loan acquisition, after the former treasurer, Don Polye went public over the deal.

Student leaders from the University of Papua New Guinea will be staging a separate forum on Wednesday, regarding the K3 billion UBS loan.

Activist Noel Anjo says a nationwide forum will be carried out to raise awareness on corruption, and rally for people’s power.
