TFF’s Strategy Concern

by Yvonne Kambibel – EM TV, Port Moresby

The Papua New Guinea Teacher’s Association (PNGTA) is concerned about the strategy taken by the national government to distribute the TFF commodity component through the Department of Education.

PNGTA General Secretary Mugwalubu Mowana said instead of supplying schools with the materials they already have, schools should have received materials they need for effective learning.

The component is part of the national government’s Tuition Fee Free Commodity policy, which consists of the distribution of school material kits to all schools throughout the country.

According to Mr Mowana, the materials received were not of good quality and at the moment, not all schools have received their share of the component.

In addition to that, he says, PNGTA would like an open explanation from Treid Pacific about the materials being distributed.

He further stated that the Department of Education should look into compiling recent data of schools for a fair distribution of the commodity component and not use the one compiled in 2012.
