The teams had arrived from such areas as Kutubu, Hela, Mendi, Hagen, Oro and also featured teams from Port Moresby.

MoniPlus took out top honours in the Corporate Touch Port Moresby Finals held at the Murray Barracks oval. They took on a BSP side that had fielded four teams into various divisions in the finals. Transport were the only other club to feature with a cameo in the senior mixed division, losing 37 to 15 to a rampant BSP .

Finals were also on the cards in the Fairfax volleyball competition with Raukeleโs mens and U21 losing to Freeway Hoks in the quarter-finals. University who had beaten Telikom in the womenโs premier will now face a Raukele womenโs team who have had three weeks off competition, while waiting for the next challenger.

The PNG Pukpuks 7s team have qualified for both the Hong Kong and Wellington sevens tournament, six years after they last made an appearance on the international circuit. This comes on the back of outstanding performances at the recently held Oceania 7s in Sydney.

And the south Sydney Rabbitohs have finally taken the NRL grand-final after 43 years, after a brave 32-6 victory over the Canterbury bulldogs. Departing skipper Sam Burgess was awarded the Clive Churchill Medal.
