Minape: I’ve Followed Legal Procedures

by Jack Lapauve Jnr – EM TV, Port Moresby

Lae businessman Mathew Minape has called on Morobe’s Physical Planning chairman, Patilias Gamato not to mislead Morobe leaders in Mr Minape’s acquisition of land in Lae.

Minape dispelled comments of Gamato in a recent EM TV news story, alleging that backdoor deals were done by Minape to obtain land for development.

Minape said, being a resident in Lae for the past 25 years, his ultimate goal was to develop Lae by creating job opportunities for Papua New Guineans.

He said the recent demolition of fencing at Lae’s Independence Park and serving of a stop work notice is seemed too personal and improper by a senior government beauracrat.  Mr Minape challenged chairman Gamato to come forward and solve this prolonged land tussle dispute.

“He [Gamato] must come clean and face me, why is he going around and misinforming the public and Morobe political leaders?” Minape said.

Meanwhile Mr Minape’s contempt of court against Mr Gamato stands after passing a court restraining order. The trial is set for Thursday 23rd in Lae.
