The Murray Barracks courts came alive with the final showdown of the 2014 Fairfax Volleyball campaign.
Twelve teams made the final cut in all three divisions, including the newcomers, Sharks, vying for the U21 title. It was a fun-filled day with enthusiastic volleyball fans gathered to cheer their teams.
In the women’s U21 division, Telikom thrashed Raukele 3 sets to nil, while in the men’s playoff, Sharks proved their worth over Raukele 3 sets to 2.
In the A division, defending champions Freeway Hoks were even better, with a thrilling showdown over Raukele to retain their title. Raukele were calm, cool and collective in the second set but were denied the remaining sets as Hoks walked out winners, 3 sets to 2.
In the women’s premier division, it was a sisterly affair, with Raukele and University. The Raukele outfit fired up right from the start, taking on the first set.
University were not able to level the score as they succumbed 3 sets to nil at the final whistle.
Captain Philo Amaisa described the win as timely and well-deserved. It was another Raukele victory as they beat Patriots three sets to one in the men’s premier division.
The winning teams from each division were presented with trophies.
