Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott made a two-hour stop in the nation’s capital on his way to Indonesia this morning.
While in Port Moresby, Abbott met with Prime Minister Peter O’Neill in a closed door discussion at the Airways Hotel.
The Australian PM was on his way to the inauguration of the new Indonesian President, Joko Widodo.
Abbott was accompanied by the Australian Minister for Immigration and Border Protection Scott Morris. The visit to Indonesia will focus on strengthening ties between the two counties.
Prime Minister O’Neill also left for Indonesia with Foreign Affairs Minister Rimbink Pato and Public Enterprise and State Investment Minister, Ben Micah.
The inauguration will be held in Jakarta tomorrow.
Details of the closed door discussion were not released to EM TV News but it is understood that a press statement will be released from the Prime Minister’s department soon.
