Sankamap Boxing

Three boxers from Sankamap Boxing Club will join forces with Team NCD Boxing for the PNG Games in Lae.

The Sankamap Boxing Club has been a success story since its inception under the guidance of Salome Rihatta and Alex Rihatta.

Now, the club is looking for a proper venue for sparring and other club activities.

A venue is the main concern for the club; members have not had one since the club’s inception in 2013.

That didn’t hinder their training, resulting in three of their boxers; Dominic Maka, Lennox Kungsi and Reginal Pirika, making it into the NCD boxing team for the PNG Games.

It was timely for the club to receive support from the National Gaming Control Board.

The K15,000 worth of support will extend and expand the talents the club has and produce brilliance in the ring.

The Sankamap Kickboxing Club is branching out to other centres, including East New Britain, Enga, East Sepik and the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.

Prior to the support provided by NGCB, the Sankamap Boxing Club was fully funded out of the pockets of the Rihatta family.

The equipment will be evenly distributed to its branches.
