A two week joint health patrol has seen over one thousand five hundred people in remote Bulolo in Morobe, receive medical examinations and other health services.
Morobe Mining’s Community Health Coordinator, Loncie Lautu said the patrol also saw the successful rolling out of the new pneumonia vaccine to babies under the age of eleven months.
Other health services delivered included malaria tests, TB tests, antenatal checks, STI counselling, community awareness and vaccination of children.
The health team visited Winima, Kwembu, Hikenangowe, Nauti, Tontome, covering Minava, Yokua, Eroa Creek, Kanunuga, , Manki, Pararoa, Society, Mainyanda, Yawawa and Tapanda villages.
Upon visiting the villages, locals praised the team as geographical location and remoteness of villages has hindered health workers to reach the people in the past years.
Nauti Village community leader, Kotsi Kepas said health patrols helped protect children against common childhood illnesses. He thanked Morobe Mining and the government for their partnership in bringing health treatments to their doorstep.
The patrol is a partnership between Morobe Mining and the Government which saw 13 health workers visiting 15 villages in the Bulolo District.
