Over 400 students from Gaire Primary School can now access information cheaply using a new library.
The library was funded by the Australian Government through the Strongim Pipol Strongim Nation program, and is fully equipped with books and palm-tops for students learning.
It was a double celebration for the Gaire Primary School students last Friday.
Scores of people gathered at the school to witness the opening of the new library, funded by the Australian Government through Strongim Pipol Strongim Nation program, at a cost of over K67, 000.
During that occasion, the Central Provincial Government donated a cheque of K100, 000 from the provincial grant to the school.
The new library is fully resourced with reading books, the student’s resource books, encyclopaedias and research thesauruses.
Also, there is a librarian desk, a laptop, a television screen, desks and tables, and hundreds of mini palm-tops which will be used for internet research and note taking.
School Head teacher, Mr. Win Gima, said these mini palm-tops are yet to be connected online, but he urged students to read more books.
SPSN Deputy Program Director, Dr. Naihuwo Ahai, urged students to read more books to improve their learning, and he called on the people to sustain the program so it continues to benefit as many children as possible in the future.
Over 5000 people of Gaire village including 465 primary and elementary students and their 15 teachers, will use this model library.
