Kuman Declares

Minister for Education and Member for Gumine, Nick Kuman, has maintained that he remains the duly elected Member for Gumine.

Minister Kuman plans to implement much of the developmental projects that were halted during the two–year election petition, taken out against him by the former MP, Lucas Dekena.

He made these remarks, following recent allegations by the people that their rights were deprived when certain ballot papers of Polling Team 17 for Koloma village, were excluded in a court ordered re-count.

Minister Kuman refuted last week’s media report that alleged that people were deprived of their rights when certain ballot papers weren’t counted. The people presented a petition that captured all the grievances that were presented to the Provincial Police Commander in Kundiawa town.

Minister Kuman clarified that he is ready to serve his people as the duly elected Member. He said most of his people were deprived from accessing basic goods and services for two decades. As the elected MP for Gumine, he plans to implement outstanding projects.

On the issue of Free Tuition Fees, Minister Kuman said 80 percent of the funds have been released to schools already. However, he said there were some delays because there were still administrative issues like incorrect account details or transfer of accounts, among others.

As the Minister responsible for Education, Mr Kuman also wants to elevate the standard of education in his electorate. He also clarified that the funds were parked with the Commercial Banks and not with the Education Department. He will also make a formal address on the floor of parliament regarding the recent misconception in schools regarding the triple six incidents.
