Wanderers meant business this season of the Capital Rugby Union Competition, as they belted Brothers 15-12 in the A division last weekend.
It was a wakeup call for the club to find a spot in the top fours. As the season moved into another round, the round four matches played over the weekend were a thriller, and also provided extra fun for mothers who were out to celebrate their special day.
Under the blazing weekend heat, the Monier Bava Park played host to the A division match between Wanderers in Maroon and Brothers. Brothers were up for a fiery battle against the much more fancied Wanderers, who seemed to have more freshmen in the lineup.
With less than a minute into the match, Brothers found the try line, putting pressure on the Wanderers. Brothers clearly showed dominance as they continued to push past the heavy Wanderers pack, and scored a second unconverted try for the team
A Manu Monts captained side remained hard beat as they fought back, making a late comeback with a try at 12-5 to half time.
The second half was a battle of the titans, as Wanderers remained hungry while the Brothers outfit put up resilient armies on alert near the try line. But that didn’t stop the Wanderers to touch down at Brothers nest, pocketing 2 tries to comfortably sail News with a 15 -12 win.
Brothers, loaded with talented guns, no doubt will be up to take sweet revenge this weekend. Meanwhile, in Goroka, Harlies defeated Sharks 24-10, and Reds were too good for Norths with 31 to nil in the 10s format.
In the 15s, Reds edged out Norths 3-5, while the Harlies and Sharks remained scoreless to draw at the final hooter.
