Team Arob Is Ready

by Lorraine Genia – EM TV Lae

Arriving two days outside of the Opening Ceremony in Lae, the Autonomous Region of Bougainville team is set and ready to go.

With 502 athletes and officials making up their contingent, the province will compete in 18 codes, beach volleyball and squash being the most recent inclusions.

General Team Manager, Robert Semoso said he was happy with the team’s preparations leading up to this year’s games, as opposed to the teams preparations towards previous games.

As part of the team’s preparations, all athletes were phased through a beep test, with the team proving their average of 10.

There has been an incredible build-up of momentum for the Bougainvillians, especially in the last week, with the most recent rugby celebrations.

With the hope to excel in every code, Semoso is confident that the team will reel in the majority of its medal’s through the individual codes, such as boxing, kickboxing and taekwondo.

However, Semoso says he and the team refuse to out speak any of the other province’s, and will take the competition a day at a time.

Joe Maineke will be the flag bearer for team AROB at the Opening Ceremony of the 6th BSP PNG Games, tomorrow.
