By Edwin Fidelis – EM TV, Lae

Bulolo MP and Deputy Opposition leader, Sam Basil has again called for the release of his DSIP funds.

Earlier this week he made a public plea to the Finance Minister, James Marape to release at least K8 million belonging to the Bulolo District. A request that he has had to continuously make, for the district’s funds to be disbursed.

On a personal note, the deputy opposition leader says he has stopped arguing with the finance minister.

“I will not say more, but I expect the Finance Minister to do the right thing”, Basil said.

Bulolo district is a district in struggle. Much of the people continue to face difficulties in road infrastructure and basic services.

In recent months, Bulolo district commissioned several new infrastructures, such as footbridges, a hydropower station and most recently, the district has obtained a new plane- Spirit of Bulolo.

Much of them were obtained on credit.

” Last year Bulolo District only received K9 million. This year, Bulolo received only K3 million. The other Government MP’s have received their DSIP’s”, the Deputy Opposition leaders said.

In less then a week, the National Government will hand down the 2015 national budget.

Each of the 89 districts may see a significant increase to their district budget.

But Basil said, Bulolo District, including other members of the opposition, are still waiting for their outstanding DSIP funds.

The Bulolo MP had gone to the extent of leading a protest march to Vulupindi Haus last December in Port Moresby to demand the release of Bulolo’s district funding.

He has also filed a court order against the finance department.
