BY ISSABELLA NARAPAL
The PNG Chiefs have revealed their official logo, team colours, and its inaugural jersey today at Hilton Hotel, imprinting its name into the proud history of Papua New Guinea.
The Chief Executive Officer of PNG Chiefs, Lorna McPherson said the unveiling of the logo marked one of the most significant milestones in the journey of the PNG Chiefs.

“A nation that loves this game more than anything else on earth but they’ve been waiting for a jersey that said Papua New Guinea. And this morning, that waiting ends.” Lorna McPherson said.
“In March 2028, a team will run out at the Santos National Football Stadium, wearing a jersey that belongs to you. The stadium will be full, the streets are going to be empty and 10 million people will hold their breath, believing, we are one team”
Speaking during the event, Prime Minister James Marape said this is not just another sports business. He described the occasion as a platform for unity that has been long dreamed of.
“It was a vision that the greatest public leader saw back then, Sir Michael Thomas Somare who foresaw there’s a need for us to unite the country through sports. Sports and music unite society and for us, as I said in one of my interviews, this is not just another sports business.” Prime Minister Marape said.
The club says the striking logo, designed by a team of graphic artists in Papua New Guinea, depicts what makes the Chiefs strong and what makes the country unique.
Meanwhile, the team’s new uniform features a bold black base with bright gold sleeves and a traditional tribal design across the chest.
The reveling of PNG Chiefs’ brand and jersey today signify the country’s transition from a dream of Joining NRL into a reality with its own official look and identity.
