A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between EMTV and Asia Pacific Applied Economics Association marking the beginning of a new media partnership for an additional program to be added to EMTV’s television station.
According to EMTV’s Chief Executive Officer, Silas Matoli, this M-O-U signifies collaboration between both parties to produce a twelve-episode Business Leadership Program for one year which will be aired across the Pacific Region and some parts of the Asian countries.
The Founder of Asia Pacific Applied Economics Association, Professor Paresh Kumar Narayan said this is a partnership of innovation and so it requires support from all stakeholders.
“Business Leadership is a very important part of Pacific Island countries, they need support when it comes to doing business whether it be governance, or ethics, as a whole range of doing business in the island countries is missing,” said Prof. Kumar Narayan.
He added that financial and business sectors are very important so they work hand-in-hand with them to address their policy issues and regulations and bring about change faster.
“And we decided very strategically that if we want to continue to make impact faster, we need to work with government. We need to work with television networks, as they spread the news of impact faster.”
Prof. Kumar Narayan echoed that with this Business Leadership Program, they want to bring successful stories forward to create a platform of motivation and inspiration for the new generation of entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, representing the Board of Director of Telikom PNG, Janet Sios said this partnership highlights the beginning of strategic collaboration to promote leadership excellence, strengthening business capabilities and contribute to economic development in PNG and the wider Pacific and Asian region.
“The world of business is rapidly changing where organizations are facing many challenges from global competition and technological disruption,” said Sios.
She highlighted that amongst what goes on in the Pacific Island countries, there is a need to increase governance in every organization to change the workforce expectations.
Mrs. Sios added that together both parties can connect the knowledge with communities around the country and create meaningful conversation about leadership and economic development in the region.
“Economic development is not only about numbers and investments, but also about the people behind us. It is about leaders making better decisions and building stronger institutions, creating jobs and driving innovations in PNG,” she said.
