Former NRL star Joey Manu is in Port Moresby for a visit as speculation continues to grow over his possible future with the PNG Chiefs.
Manu arrived in the Nation’s capital yesterday with his family and was welcomed by PNG Chiefs Head of Football Michael Chammas and Media but avoided speaking to the media before leaving the airport.
During his stay, the former Sydney Roosters and New Zealand Kiwis representative is expected to inspect the club’s training facilities and learn more about the environment and plans for the new NRL franchise.
The visit comes as the PNG Chiefs continue preparations for their entry into the NRL in 2028, with Manu widely tipped as a potential marquee recruit.
After finishing his NRL career with the Sydney Roosters at the end of the 2024 season, Manu made the move to rugby union, playing in Japan before signing with French club Racing 92.
While no official announcement has been made about his playing future, his visit to Port Moresby has added to growing speculation that he could become one of the club’s first high-profile signings.
