The construction of the Lama Bridge in Enga Province is nearing completion, marking a significant milestone for rural infrastructure development in the Wabag District.

Wabag Open Member Lino Tom confirmed that the bridge—linking Lakolam to Yanghanda, Tukesanda, and Yokonda in the Laiagam area is now in its final stages.

Dr Tom said all major structural components have been completed, including the abutments, while the bridge structure has already been successfully launched. He added that the remaining works are expected to be finalised within the week.

“This bridge is almost complete now. The abutments have been completed and the bridge has been launched. It will be completed this week,” he said.

The project forms part of the broader Wabag District Rural Road Network Program, which aims to improve accessibility and connectivity for remote communities across the district.

Dr Tom acknowledged the efforts of Junior Karato and his construction team for their commitment and progress in delivering the project.

“We thank Junior Karato and his team for a job well done,” he added.

He said once completed, the Lama Bridge is expected to significantly improve transport access for residents, enabling easier movement of people, goods, and services between the connected communities.
