CIVILIAN ARRESTED FOR IMPERSONATING

A man has been arrested in Jiwaka for pretending to be a police officer while intoxicated.
The man was caught on April 1 at Kudjip Market after the H4 Highway Patrol Unit responded quickly to a report from a member of the public.
Jiwaka Provincial Acting Police Commander, Superintendent Laimo Asi , said the suspect is now being held at Minz Police Station while police continue their investigations.
He said the man was wearing a police Number One uniform without authorization and was later questioned and arrested.
Police said the man was first seen in Banz Town sitting in a grey Toyota Land Cruiser, holding a beer bottle while dressed in the police uniform.
Officers later intercepted the vehicle at Kudjip Market and arrested him.
Superintendent Asi thanked the Highway Patrol officers for their swift response and also acknowledged the public for reporting the incident.
He said the public plays an important role in helping police fight crime and keep communities safe.
