The Governor of Madang Province, has delivered more than K1.4 million worth of financial assistance to institutions on Karkar Island.
Governor Ramsey Pariwa, travelled to Mapor Sub-Health Centre in the newly established North Karkar Local Level Government last Saturday, where he honoured several commitments made during previous visits to communities in the district. The largest allocation went to Gaubin Rural Hospital, which received over K1.28 million to support its health services.
The funding commitment was first announced earlier this year on January 29 at Kinim Government Station, where Pariwa presented a dummy cheque to the Member for Sumkar, Alex Suguman Orme, in the presence of Prime Minister James Marape.
Additional support was also provided to several community institutions. Mapor Sub-Health Centre received K20,000, while Karkar Community College received K50,000. Another K20,000 was presented to the Bakul Local Level Government Chamber.
Governor Pariwa also delivered 22 boxes of medical supplies valued at K40,000 to be distributed to aid posts, community health posts and Gaubin Rural Hospital across Karkar Island.
The Governor was accompanied by Deputy Governor and Provincial Executive Council Health and HIV Chairman, Kui Udag, and Chief Executive Officer of the Madang Provincial Health Authority, Dr Martin Daimen.
They were welcomed by North Karkar LLG President Mugiar Yass, who commended the Governor for returning to honour the commitments made during his previous visit.
Governor Pariwa urged leaders and stakeholders to work together to restore service delivery across the province.
He said improving leadership, strengthening administration and building partnerships with districts and communities were key to restoring services in health, education, infrastructure and law and order throughout Madang Province.
