The five- and six-mile communities in Lae have launched their law-and-order committee yesterday headed by ward councilor for Ward nine, Hone Gene.
Gene said the Law-and-Order Committee comes under his Ward Development Committee and this marks one of his first major initiatives since taking office, demonstrating his commitment to community safety, peace, and development.
“With the active support of community members and private partners like SVS Store, we will work together to make Ward 9 a thriving and secure community,” Gene said.
He said the Law-and-Order Committee has been established to strengthen security and accountability within the ward and will provide residents with a platform to address local law and order concerns, resolve conflicts, and ensure that peace and stability are maintained across the community.
The launch was further highlighted by the generous support of Super Value Stores (SVS) Limited, who is currently building a new supermarket in the ward.
SVS Ltd contributed essential rations and gifts to the members of the Ward Development Committee as their community support initiative.
Gene said his priority is to ensure that the community is safe, united, and empowered as peace and security are the foundations for development.
Community members present expressed their enthusiasm for the initiative and pledged to actively participate in the committee’s programs.
Gene thanked SVS Ltd for their generosity and encouraged other local businesses to step forward and support initiatives that benefit the people of Ward 9.
