Wantuat High School in the Leron Wantuat Local Level Government area of Markham District, Morobe Province, has marked a significant milestone with the dedication of a newly completed 80-room boys’ dormitory and a new generator at the school campus.
Headmaster Kuyom Bafenuc acknowledged the efforts and perseverance of the builders in bringing the project to completion. He said the new facility will greatly improve student accommodation, while the generator will provide a reliable power supply to support boarding and academic operations.
Bafenuc assured the community that the new facilities will be properly maintained for the benefit of current and future students.
Construction Administration Manager Lavoni Yomsa also acknowledged the challenges encountered throughout the project but expressed satisfaction that the company successfully delivered the building. He said the contractor remained committed to completing the project to benefit the school and surrounding communities.
The dormitory, valued at K200,000, was constructed by Naban Building Construction Limited. Construction began in 2018 and was completed in 2025 despite several logistical and operational challenges.
Community leaders, parents, teachers, and students who attended the dedication described the development as a major boost for education and infrastructure growth in the area.
