NCD POLICE BOSS THANKS VOLUNTEERS AND RESERVISTS

Metropolitan Superintendent Warrick Simatab has commended community watch volunteers and reservists who assisted police operations across the National Capital District during the festive season.

Simatab said the volunteers had served as the “ears and eyes” of police in their communities, helping ensure a peaceful Christmas period.

The superintendent made the comments following the arrest of an armed man by a police reservist on Christmas Eve. The suspect has been detained, and charges will be laid accordingly.

He added that most incidents in the city were alcohol-related.

“There were other minor traffic accidents reported, most of which were alcohol-related. Our message is clear: do not drink and drive. All those drivers were arrested and taken to the police station,” Simatab said.

“Last night (Wednesday), we received reports of four traffic accidents—one at Islander Traffic Light, one at Courts Roundabout, one on the Gerehu-to-Nine-Mile Back Road, and one at Gordons.”
