MINDARI BACKS SITUM YOUTHS IN WAWENS CUP

By BRADLEY MARIORI

A local landowner has backed youths from Situm, in Nawaeb district in Morobe province to take part in the upcoming Wawen’s Cup football competition in Lae.

Ruben Mindari has donated K400 to the youths who will be part of the tournament that will run from December 26, 2025 to January 2026.

The donation aims to keep the youths busy and out of trouble, during the Christmas and New Year period, which often see an increase in law-and-order issues.

Mindari stated that he has seen many problems in urban communities and believes supporting youths is key to minimizing social issues.

“This is not the only help we’re giving. We will continue to help the youths in whatever ways we can,” Mindari said.

“Once we mold and shape our young people, they will be good leaders in the future and look after the country,” Mindari added.

The funds will help the youths attend the tournament, and Mindari also plans to assist them in registering a soccer club, enabling them to fully participate in Lae’s soccer games. Additionally, he will help school dropouts from the area gain basic life skills through a school in Lae.

Team coach, Kennedy Hofagao, thanked Mindari for the cash support, saying it will surely help the youths from Situm take part in the Wawens Cup.
