The second edition of the Lewa Lae Junior Tennis Open is set for December 12-14 at the Lae Golf Club and Lae Biscuit company is backing the event.
Lae Tennis Club President, Glenn Cabasug said Lae Biscuit Company has come on board for the second year in a row as the naming sponsor and partner, providing an opportunity for Juniors to compete in various age categories from under 16 to 18 male and female.
He said the games will serve as fundraising tournaments for their Junior Development Program.
“This will be our fourth and last fundraising tournament for the year, with all proceeds going towards our Junior Development Program,” Cabasug said.
“Through this tournament, all our juniors in Lae will be able to compete in a major junior tournament, showcase and develop their tennis skills, build their confidence and learn more about discipline, sportsmanship, and respect.
“Our goal is to encourage kids, with the support of their parents, to learn tennis and compete in tournaments.
“On its 2nd year, this tournament is sanctioned by PNG Tennis, and is already included in the PNG Tennis Calendar.”
Cabasug added that a total of 16 categories or events will be offered during the tournament which includes Singles for under 12 to under 18 players in both male and female division.
There will also be the Tennis 10s Singles (junior balls and modified courts) for U10 boys and girls (Green Dot Ball, 3/4 court), U8 boys and girls (Orange Dot Ball, 1/2 Court), U13 Boys and U14 Girls (Red Dot Ball, 1/4 Court. In the doubles the event will feature U18 and U14 mixed.
Cabasug said all draws will either be standard elimination format or round robin, depending on the number of participants per category.
The interested individuals are encouraged to register starting on Monday November 24, 2025.
