K70,000 COMMUNITY FUNDED WATER SUPPLY IN URUP NEARS COMPLETION

A locally initiated water supply project contributed and funded by the local people at around K70, 000 at Urup along Highlands Highway is nearing completion.

The project located at Domil Ward will supply both Nondugl LLG particularly parts of Banz in Jiwaka Province.

Getting clean and fresh water for domestic use delivered to your doorstep is something the people in the area have been longing for.

Project chairman John Ambane said the new water system will provide clean and reliable water to over 6000 people, including staff and teachers at Urup Primary School and the churches in the area.

Ambane added that project was entirely driven by the community where they mobilized the locals to contribute up to about K70,000 through community unity effort.

The people of Urup will now take pride in the project funded by themselves that will ease daily hardship for fresh water.

Ambane said water is essential for human life and they are grateful for the progress of the project so far.
