PNG INTERNATIONALS JOINED FORCE IN SUPER LEAGUE’S LEOPARD
Current PNG Kumuls lock forward Liam Horne has joined his international teammates at the Leigh Leopards following his recent release from the Castleford Tigers.
Horne now links up with fellow Kumuls Edwin Ipape, Lachlan Lam and Jacob Alick-Wiencke under the guidance of PNG great Adrian Lam, who is the head coach of the Leopards.
Although Horne still had a year remaining on his contract with the Tigers, the club released him early. He has since signed a three-year deal with the Leopards.
Coach Adrian Lam welcomed the signing, saying Horne will fit seamlessly into the team’s system.
“I’ve watched Liam since his playing days with the Norths Devils in the Queensland Cup and I like the way he plays. He’s very aggressive, very physical, and I believe he’ll fit straight into our squad,” Lam said.
“Liam is the ultimate competitor and can play a number of positions. I strongly believe we can take his game to another level and help him reach his full potential.”
Lam also thanked club owner Derek Beaumont for his continued support in strengthening the squad.
In a statement, Castleford Tigers confirmed Horne’s release, thanking him for his service and wishing him well. Horne is currently in Port Moresby, proudly representing Papua New Guinea in the Pacific Championships.
