HEART BREAK AT HOME
Despite the early celebrations, Papua New Guinea Junior Kumuls suffered a dramatic defeat against Australia School Boys with the final point of 22-14 on the scoreboard. The match ended in a heartbreak today at National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
The PNG side took a 10-4 lead into the break but failed to hold off the dazzling effort that was brought onto the field by the visiting Australia school boys to get the job done.
The PNG side went from drawing the match against the Australia side with 22-22 points last year to an eight-point margin defeat despite talks around improve academy pathways that came as an effort to join the NRL competition.
The Port Moresby heat got much from the players who started their day as early as 7am in the morning.
The football festival today at National Football Stadium started in favour of the visiting Australia side where the Australia School girls took a dominant 20-12 victory over the PNG’s Junior Orchids side earlier. This followed by the school boys’ victory.
The day is far from over with Women’s and men’s Prime Minsters XIII matches between Australia and PNG side are set to go down.
