Papua New Guinea Tourism and Promotion Authority in partnership with SME Corporations conducted “Start your business standard” (SYB) Training for Small Medium Entrepreneurs in Imbonggu District on behalf of the Southern Highlands Provincial Government.
The two-weeks long training attracted SMEs from all five LLGs of Southern Highlands; Ialibu Pangia, Kagua Erave, Imbonggu, Nipa Kutubu and Wai LLG in Kundiawa, Chimbu Province.
The Executive Manager, Research and Business Development of Tourism and Promotion Authority, Mr. Douglas Keari said that there were two types of trainings conducted.
“The Micro that includes everyone who are interested in business, and Standard Training which includes those who are already in business but do not have business and marketing plans,” Mr. Keari said.
The standard training will equip each of the participants with required knowledge and skills to improve an existing business.
“As soon as the training is completed, the participants will be in a better position to implement knowledge gained in their respective business areas,” Keari said.
Mr. Keari further thanked the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Imbonggu District, Mr. Francis Nandiye for welcoming them with kind gestures on their arrival.
A total of 37 participants have participated in this training season.
