PNG CRICKETER FACES ROBBERY CHARGE

Cricket Papua New Guinea has confirmed that national team player Kipling Doriga was involved in an incident in Jersey, United Kingdom, during the early hours of Monday, 25th August, while on tour for a tournament.
According to media reports, Doriga appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday morning, where he pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery.
He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before Jersey’s Royal Court on 28th November for sentencing.
Cricket PNG stated that the matter is being treated as an individual legal issue and does not impact the national team’s ongoing participation in the Jersey tour.
The organization emphasised that the PNG Barramundis remain focused on completing the tour and continue to represent Papua New Guinea in accordance with the team’s values and standards.
